A "Neet" Way to Give Back

There is certainly a lot of water cooler chat about people helping within their community, thoughts on giving back to the less fortunate, donating time at a soup kitchen, or giving charitable donations to notable organizations. Well, there’s one gal who felt so strongly to help those in need that she started her own notable organization. Madison “Peach” Steiner founded Peaches Neet Feet (PNF) in hopes of making a real difference in people’s lives in the simplest of ways. She is a local artist who had paints canvas shoes and donates them to children whom are battling various forms of illnesses including cancer and other list threatening conditions. Along with two other artists, Ms. Steiner customizes each and every pair of shoes to the child’s life, interests, and fighting spirit.

PNF Spotlight - Kindness Kards

My class of third graders started working with PNF in January when we partnered up for Random Acts of Kindness Month. We created "Kindness Kards" (www.kindnesskards.org) and Peach included them with all her shoes for the month of February. The kids in my class thought the shoes were "super cool" and they instantly became fans. We talked a lot about how those shoes would make you feel better if you were sick, and since they are kids, they could relate. We got to see a pair of PNF in person when one of our fellow Edy Ridge Wolves, Liam, got his pair. The kids were so excited to see a pair in person. We worked all year doing "heart work" (things for others) and at the end of the school year, I thought it would be a fun culminating activity for the kids to find ways to raise money to sponsor a pair of shoes. I made a deal with them, if they could raise $25 (less than $1 per student) I would put in another $25 and we could sponsor two pairs. I talked with them about ways they could earn a dollar or two - doing chores, helping neighbors, etc. I felt it was important for the money to come from them, versus asking their parents. We talked about how if they got the money from their parents, it would be their parents sponsoring the shoes and they wouldn't feel like it had come from them.

Thank you to The British School of Houston

A big shout out and thank you to the Year 4 (Grade 3) children at The British School of Houston, who recently held a Bake Sale for The Gladiators. Their chosen charity was Peach's Neet Feet! The kids, families and community support was AMAZING and the children raised an equally amazing amount of money. The children were genuinely inspired by PNF and some gave up pocket money and collected funds from friends and relatives. We are so grateful to the staff, families and most of all the wonderful children at BSH, who will be donating 4 pairs of PNF kicks a month to Texas Children's for quite a while to come! Kids helping Kids....this warms our Gladiator hearts ♥
